Files opened in the private editor

Your chosen file, rendered pages, recognized text, suggestions, manual redactions, and downloaded result stay in the private editor on your device for the current session. FreeRedact does not upload or store that document content. Starting over, refreshing, or closing the editor clears the in-browser session.

The public page around the editor is on a different web origin. It does not receive the file, recognized text, suggestions, redaction choices, or downloaded result.

Public-site analytics

Google Analytics runs on public information pages and on the outer page around focused tools. It does not run inside the private editor. Analytics may receive the page URL, referring page, browser and device information, approximate region derived from network data, and public-site interactions such as opening an editor link.

FreeRedact does not add filenames, document text, images, detected details, redaction decisions, or download contents to Analytics events. Google Analytics may use first-party cookies such as_ga and _ga_* to distinguish visits and sessions. Read Google's Analytics data safeguards.

Advertising, cookies, and similar technologies

Google AdSense is configured on the homepage and full guide articles. The editor page, focused workflow pages, guide index, and policy pages do not load advertising code on a fresh visit. Public navigation loads a new page so advertising scripts do not carry into the editor. Google and participating advertising vendors may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or other device identifiers to deliver, measure, limit, and protect advertising. Depending on your region, settings, and consent choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.

Your privacy choices

You can manage personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings, clear or block cookies through your browser, and use browser privacy controls. Blocking required scripts or storage may change how advertising and visit measurement work, but it does not change the local document-processing design.

Where required, Google or a Google-approved consent platform may show regional privacy choices for advertising cookies, local storage, and personalization. Those choices control ad data use; they do not provide the advertising page access to the editor.

Retention, requests, and disclosures

FreeRedact does not maintain user accounts or a server-side library of your files. Public-site analytics and advertising data is held by Google under the configured account controls and Google's terms. FreeRedact may disclose information it actually controls when required by law, to investigate abuse or security issues, or to protect the service and its users.

To ask what information FreeRedact can reasonably identify about a visit, request deletion where applicable, or raise a privacy concern, email hello@freeredact.com. Include only the details needed to handle the request, and never attach a sensitive source document.

Children and policy changes

FreeRedact is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13. Do not use it to share a child's personal information without appropriate authority and review.
